You need to be delusional if you want to succeed. —

“Their goals are delusional.”

“We're talking about your mind being like a heat-seeking missile.”

“Your goal must have gravity.”

“When a goal is not meant to be achieved, it becomes a point of view.”

“And second, you need to set a deadline so short that you also consider it impossible.”

00:00I want you to tell me if any of this sounds like you.
00:03First, you feel like you've been lied to about what the life looks like.
00:07You're pursuing a goal that sounds good when you mention it over dinner with your grandma, or a goal that wo n't make your parents think you're a disappointment, and you really don't see where it's leading.
00:15If you ignore this feeling, then in 10 years you will wake up with a degree, a decent job, and an endless feeling of despair that you will never be able to fulfill your own dreams.
00:25Second, you are productive but not really moving towards anything.
00:28You wake up early, listen to podcasts, journal, exercise your calendar is full, but you don't really know where you're going.
00:35Give yourself 5 years and you'll still be figuring out what to do with your life.
00:39Third, you are ambitious but keep quiet because it seems awkward to your friends and family.
00:44You want a unique life.
00:46You don't want to be like everyone else.
00:47But when people ask about your future, you downplay your plans so no one laughs.
00:52You are trapped in self-deception.
00:54You special because of your desire to be unique, but you still do the same thing as everyone else.
00:59No one wants to be in any of these three situations.
01:03This video will change that for you, because one of my favorite things to do—it might seem like a pointless activity, but I love studying the habits, actions, and mindsets of both successful and mediocre people.
01:17And success is just doing less of what people do and more of what successful people do.
01:25And the next few videos on this channel will be dedicated to exactly that.
01:28This is just the first of them.
01:31So, when we analyze the habits, actions, and thoughts of people who have done the impossible, like Elon Musk or Steve Jobs, and any other great creators, thinkers, and builders of the past, I have noticed one pattern.
01:44Their goals are delusional.
01:46This is the key to their success.
01:48And that's exactly what we're going to figure out .
01:51First, why mediocre goals lead to mediocrity and failure, the psychology of delusional goals and why they work and why you need them, how to enter the same reality as extremely successful people, and of course,首先,为什么平庸的目标会导致平庸和失败;“妄想目标”的心理学,它为什么有效、你为什么需要它;如何进入和极度成功者相同的现实;当然还有,
02:03how to achieve what most people think is impossible.
02:05So, that's where we'll start: why unrealistic goals lead to failure and mediocrity, and you've fallen into that category by default.
02:12Everyone falls into this category by default.
02:15And, in my opinion, this is best illustrated by a quote from Elon Musk: " mistake a smart engineer makes is optimizing something that shouldn't exist."
02:23So, you have goals, even if you haven't set them.
02:26This is how our mind works.
02:28And if you realize this or understand how your mind works, you will quickly see why you or other people cannot their goals.
02:37And we're not talking about some New Year's resolutions or superficial goals that you set because you looked in the mirror and felt insecure, so you wanted to go to the gym or start eating healthy ;我们说的不是新年决心,也不是那种因为照镜子觉得不自信、于是想去健身或开始吃得健康的表面目标;
02:47You eat one healthy lunch and immediately throw it away because you simply forgot about it.
02:51Something more important has distracted you , such as something funny on your phone.
02:55In other words, because another subconscious goal was more important than the one you set, and you just didn't notice it.
03:01And this subconscious goal is usually convenience and comfort.
03:05This is exactly what you want.
03:07Or you just don't want to draw attention to yourself .
03:09So you eating healthy or going to the gym because secretly, without even admitting it to yourself, you don't want to stand out.
03:16So, we are not talking about such goals.
03:19We're talking about your mind being like a heat-seeking missile.
03:23Your every thought and every action is aimed at achieving a specific goal.
03:28That's logical, is n't it?
03:30I'm looking into this camera because my goal is to create a video.
03:33Maybe I'm tapping my foot because my goal is simply not to be bored.
03:37This applies to every little thing.
03:40Everything is directed towards a goal or towards incentives, which we will talk about soon.
03:44But you must understand that your mind is optimizing for a goal that you probably never chose and don't even know exists.
03:51Or someone else has given you a goal: to graduate from school, find a job, retire at 65, because that's how you were raised.
03:58This is what you were taught and you never questioned it.
04:01So these attitudes sit in your subconscious and silently guide your every step until you realize it.
04:07So I want you to actually stop for a second and think about it, because this is really important.
04:11This could mean that the entire direction of your life and where you end up is completely out of your control, or at least out of your awareness.
04:19Your every thought or action is aimed at achieving a goal.
04:23Don't forget about it.
04:25So, everything happens like this.
04:27First you are born.
04:28Your first goal is survival.
04:30And your parents have been thinking about what goals they want you to achieve for quite some time.
04:35They want what's best for you, as they say, but in reality they want what's best for themselves.
04:39They want you to become a decent young man who won't embarrass them.
04:43Then your parents teach you to walk, to communicate, and eventually—what they see as your success, which usually coincides with the goals society has imposed on them, unless your parents question them or are too proactive.
04:56So, go to school, get a job, pray to God .
04:59And you do.
05:00You go to school, then college, because it's just the next step.
05:03You don't actually make this decision.
05:05This is the only decision you can make.
05:07Then you get a job, achieve goals, and check off the list.
05:12And after a quarter of your life, you to wonder if you really wanted it, which, by the way, is not very pleasant.
05:19A quarter of your life has passed.
05:22So, the typical state is to have average goals and just go with the flow.
05:27If you understand entropy, you know how catastrophic it can be.
05:32Entropy shows that systems are heading towards disorder.
05:35Applied to the mind, mental here isn't some fancy word, like you move objects with the power of thought, it literally means "mental."
05:43This is the mind.
05:44So, mental entropy means that your mind, and therefore your life, is drifting towards chaos and disorder.
05:50This can be seen everywhere.
05:52It's just what happens.
05:53If you don't water a plant, it dies.
05:55If you don't clean your room, it will gradually become dirtier over time.
05:59If you don't maintain habits of self-development, your mind slowly descends into chaos.
06:05Here's what happens on a typical path: you have mediocre goals that you didn't choose or set, you don't put effort into them because they don't excite you, and you end up in a rut.
06:16Everyone feels it.
06:18That's why this video will always be relevant.
06:20This should not be the case.
06:21You should want better for yourself.
06:23But that's also the nature of reality, and I think it exists for a reason .
06:27Because at a certain point, the system becomes unstable, and a new, more structure must emerge.
06:34So when you imagine water pouring from a faucet, say, into a bathtub, eventually it becomes so chaotic that a vortex begins to form, a ordered vortex.
06:44It's the same in life: you reach a point where the lower part of you wants to stay the same , and the higher part wants something more.
06:51And you feel like you're being torn in half.
06:53This is a signal to completely change your life.
06:57That's what newsletter will be about: how to get out of a really bad situation, because this is the best time to start.
07:04So, the reason why most mediocre and unrealistic goals lead to failure is how you choose them.
07:12First, you look at what you think is possible, or what you know is possible, and what you know now was told to you by your parents, teachers, or other ordinary people.
07:25And then, from those possible goals, you lower the bar a little so that people don't laugh at you for wanting to , because when you try to be better, the in a bucket" mentality kicks in,然后,从这些“可能”的目标里,你把标准再降一点,好让别人不笑话你——因为当你想变得更好时,“桶里的大螃蟹”心态就发作了,
07:35and all your friends say, "Oh, you better have a beer with us ."
07:38"You shouldn't stick to your health goals."“你别那么较真你的健康目标。”
07:41Like: "That's enough for you, relax, live life to the fullest."
07:43And you want to avoid this because you know it will happen, so you lower the bar and take the goals seriously from the very beginning.
07:49A goal only seems realistic when it fits into the life your parents, teachers, and friends already expect of you.
07:55In other words, your mind is a cage, and if you continue to choose to live in that cage, you will never see the opportunities that could change everything .
08:05That's what this video is largely about— observation.
08:08And if you don't notice this opportunity, you won't be able to take advantage of it.
08:12And again , your life slowly gets worse and worse until the pain becomes so unbearable that you either break down or finally decide to act.
08:20So, what are “illusionary” goals ?
08:22Why are they important?
08:23Are they really delusional?
08:24We'll start with a quote from Maxwell Maltz to transition.
08:27A person who considers themselves a failure will find a way to fail, despite all their good intentions or willpower, even if the opportunity literally falls into their hands.
08:37A person who considers himself a victim of injustice, someone doomed to suffer, will invariably find circumstances to confirm his beliefs.
08:45Now, another thing I like to think about is why humans are unique or how they are different from animals.
08:51And humans are unique not in the sense that they have memory, a different type of consciousness than animals, or a more sophisticated intelligence, although that also plays a role.
09:01They are unique because they constantly model the future to guide the present.
09:06You think about the future more than the past because you usually don't think about the past so much as how it affects the future and what you're trying to avoid based on past experiences.
09:16And it is the future that determines your current behavior.
09:19Again , all behavior is So, contrary to what is probably belief, your actions do not create the future.
09:28create the future first, and your actions follow suit .
09:30So, all of this falls under the concept of selective attention.
09:33This means that your brain is either responding to stimuli or is directed toward a goal.
09:38And when you focus on one thing, that means that by definition you are not focused on 99.99% of the other things you could be focusing on.
09:46Your attention is focused on the goal, not flailing around like a rag doll looking for another dopamine rush .
09:51This is an important part because audacious, " illusionary" goals force you to do this.
09:55If you are focused on one overarching illusory goal and only focus on it, then everything else is just noise.
10:02So I want you to imagine two different people with radically different goals.
10:06The first person, Tommy, has the same goal as almost everyone else.
10:10Go to school, get an education, get a decent job to finally afford a nice apartment and acquire status symbols to find a partner.
10:18The second person, Johnny, has a goal that seems impossible.
10:21Building a content business that brings in 100 thousand per month in 6 months, as an example that I think many of my audience can identify with.
10:29So , will Tommy ever have the opportunity to earn more than what a decent job pays him?
10:34Will Tommy ever learn something outside of school that will allow him to take advantage of a more lucrative opportunity?Tommy
10:39No, because that's not what his attention is set on .
10:43He may come across life-changing information, but his mind will consider it noise simply because it is not needed to achieve the goal he is pursuing.
10:51Johnny, on the other hand, cannot think like person.
10:54To achieve this illusory goal, he realizes that most of the actions he takes are completely useless.
11:00So, a correctly set “illusionary” goal pushes your brain into the unknown.
11:04Everything you knew before no longer matters.
11:06You can't use this.
11:08And this strengthens connections in the brain, but novelty and challenge stimulate learning and change much faster.
11:18So, switching and giving your full attention to the goal forces your brain into a where it has to quickly recalibrate, and the new behavior becomes your new normal.
11:27And what's even better—many have experienced this in brief moments of their lives—is the moment when the five internal drivers of flow and obsession come into play, creating an incredible quality of life.
11:38I mean the state of the stream.
11:40This is the highest human experience.
11:42These five drivers are: first, curiosity—the desire the unknown, learn to change, and gaps in knowledge.
11:49This causes a release of helpful dopamine through novelty and norepinephrine, which increases attention, preparing you for learning.
11:54The second is passion.
11:55There is a strong enthusiasm for the path that allows you to change your life.
12:00This leads to even beneficial dopamine and norepinephrine.
12:04Next—purpose, which is the feeling that your actions contribute to something greater than yourself.
12:08Achieving goals leads to a release of dopamine and reinforces behavior.
12:12Serotonin is produced by meaning and a sense of Oxytocin is produced through connections with others.
12:17The next one is autonomy, that is, the desire to manage one's own life and to control one's choices, actions, and environment, which again leads to the release of dopamine and a decrease in cortisol—the stress of feeling limited,下一个是自主:渴望管理自己的人生,掌控自己的选择、行动和环境——这又会释放多巴胺,并降低皮质醇,也就是“被限制”的压力,
12:28which allows for creative decisions.
12:31when the process of learning and development becomes its own reward.
12:34This gives a steady, beneficial dopamine boost that keeps you in the game and makes you want to keep going.
12:39That's what we're trying to do: you throw yourself into the unknown, you become maybe you become curious enough to throw yourself into the unknown—and then you create passion, right?
12:49You don't feel passionate about things until you invest your time and energy into them.
12:53You can't find your passion because you haven't done anything.
12:56You have to stay in the unknown until you feel passionate about something.
13:00And so many people get this wrong You don't have to be into anything fancy or artistic.
13:05You can become passionate about anything if enough and study it enough to literally become "fanatic" about it.
13:13That's when passion begins to manifest.
13:16And then, when you can connect that passion with a sense of purpose and ultimately do your own thing, gaining autonomy and mastery, that's the best way to live.
13:24This is what I try to convey in my training programs.
13:27It sounds great, but I understand your doubts because I was once in your shoes.
13:32And this doubt sounds like this: “But, Dan, I’ve tried setting goals like this before and I feel anything like this.
13:38I didn't feel motivated.
13:39I just set a goal ."
13:40And yes, that's exactly what we're trying to avoid.
13:42Your goal must have gravity.
13:44She should attract you to her.
13:46It should be so powerful that everything else in your life seems insignificant and meaningless.
13:51And it's not easy.
13:52Therefore, this will be a series of videos, not just one video.
13:56So, for now, we need to learn how to set “ delusional” goals correctly.
14:00In fact, we don't just set a goal.
14:03We are creating a new reality.
14:04It sounds a bit esoteric.
14:07It sounds strange, but that's exactly what you're doing.
14:09We strive to enter the same reality in extremely successful people live.
14:13I Anthony de Mello's quote: " Every great idea is initially perceived as blasphemy."
14:18Everyone will think you're crazy because the idea scares them.
14:21I think the best example of this is Steve Jobs.
14:25Steve Jobs would walk into a room and announce an impossible deadline or an product as if it had already been decided.Steve Jobs
14:32He said, "We'll release this by January , and it'll do this."
14:35With such confidence that the engineers in the room who knew it was impossible came out with the belief that it was possible and worked as if it was a normal plan.
14:43This Jobs' "reality distortion field."
14:46Most would call it charisma, manipulation, or bad character, when in reality he was attention of everyone present.
14:53Steve Jobs external factors that said "it's impossible" and replaced them with a future goal.Steve Jobs
15:00Everyone in the room's brain began to look for ways to achieve the goal, instead of looking for reasons why it wouldn't work.
15:06The thing is, people misunderstand what a goal is.
15:09A goal is not a you have to reach.
15:12It's not just climbing a mountain and reaching the top.
15:16The goal is a vantage point , because when you're at the top, you see everything below in a completely different way.
15:21In the end, it's not so important that you reach the top.
15:24It's like you're going home and going to bed just like you do every night.
15:27It's just not that important , but what you've gained is an advantage in choosing a position.
15:31You have gained a new perspective.
15:33So, a goal is a filter that decides what your brain considers important and what is meaningless or I hope this is clear, because realizing this is extremely powerful.
15:44It's that you're not really trying to achieve the goal itself.
15:47This is the type of self-development dogma that many people are fed, and then they become disappointed in their goals and say that setting them is pointless, and that all you need is systems.
15:55When a goal is not meant to be achieved, it becomes a point of view.
15:58This is what filters information.
16:01This is what allows you to notice opportunities because your attention and focus are directed in a different direction from a different level.
16:07In other words, you are in a different reality.
16:10You see things that other people don't see.
16:13So, to this “crazy” goal correctly and create your own reality distortion field, here’s what you need to do.
16:20And now would be a good time to get out a notepad or open Eden to take notes.
16:24But the first step is to establish a point of view.
16:26And there are exactly two things that are needed to set a " crazy" goal.
16:31First, the goal should be so big that you think it is impossible.
16:35And second, you need to set a deadline so short that you also consider it impossible.
16:39So , an impossible goal and an impossible deadline for achieving it, because impossibility is relative to your current situation.
16:46It is actually possible, but if it were possible for you, you would not be operating in the dark.
16:50You wouldn't be doing anything new.
16:52If you don't know what goal to set or even what to do with your life, I find it helpful to start with problem, solving which will open up other areas of your life.
17:02It's like your top priority.
17:04For most people, this usually involves fitness or finances, as hitting the gym and losing 10kg can do wonders for your energy and mental health, making the process of life change easier.
17:16This was true for me, and it's true for many I've spoken to: their first step into business was fitness.
17:23I've been in the gym since I was about 14 or 15 years old.
17:27I had a small garage gym that only consisted of a bench press and a bench press chair.
17:30But I went there because I just wanted the on my arms to show.
17:34It didn't matter how I started, because I learned a lot, eventually came to love the process, and it taught me habits and behaviors that transfer so well business; Of course, energy and confidence also helped a lot.
17:46When it comes to finances, more money relieves stress, opens up the mind, and allows you to invest in other areas of life.
17:52And it is not yet necessary to know the specific "how" to achieve these goals.
17:56Because by simply setting a goal— if it’s a real goal that you constantly think about, your main guiding star —you allow your mind to eventually determine and learn the “how.” Because you do n't know how to do it because you因为仅仅设定一个目标——如果它是一个你不断思考的真正目标,你的主指引星——你就能让心智最终确定并学会“怎么做”。
18:08don't know where to look for answers.
18:09Next, you have to ask yourself one question.
18:12Is the goal and deadline you just impossible for who you are now?
18:15In other words, can your current approach get you there?
18:19If so, then the goal is linear, not Give it up and raise the bar higher.
18:23The goal should lie outside your current skills, habits, and ideas of what is possible, because that is what creates a lens that shows you a new reality instead of a to-do list.
18:32Finally, the goal must be unique and chosen independently.
18:35You cannot have conflicting goals.
18:37This scatters attention and does not lead to the formation of one's own point of view at all.
18:40And it cannot be inherited from parents, culture, industry, or algorithms.
18:44So, the final version of goal setting is when you can say, “I’m doing this.” With complete confidence, and you instantly see that most of what you are doing now has nothing to do with this goal.
18:54And then I can also welcome you into the unknown—that is the most meaningful place to be.
18:59The second step is to set standards for what you don't do and stick to them.
19:04This should happen automatically if the goal correctly, but if you feel like it's not, then you need to do that too .
19:10You need to identify what you simply no longer do.
19:13So, you analyze your life: every habit, every project, every client, every relationship, routine, and commitment.
19:19Does any of this help you achieve your goal?
19:22The answer is almost certainly no, and that's the hardest part, because you have to create a standard that you to lower, and these are things you no longer do, period.
19:30You don't just stop partying on weekends or undercutting your freelance services, you completely eradicate this behavior.
19:37And, of course, that's easier said than done.
19:40There is a sunk cost bias, like, "Oh, I've invested so much in this, it would be illogical to throw it away now."
19:46Either fear or lack of responsibility, and all because the mind is a machine for self-deception.
19:50This is what the mind does deceives you and lies to you.
19:54And people just love to lie to themselves so as not to change anything.
19:57In my opinion, the best way to present this is as a chance to practice brutal honesty with yourself and rip off all the band-aids in one fell swoop.
20:04So, the end result of raising your standards is that life becomes much easier.
20:09You just feel less burden on your shoulders.
20:11You have fewer things, fewer obligations, and fewer excuses that clutter your head and prevent you from taking action.
20:17Now, step three— focus on the available to you.
20:22Since you have goals, what do you do next?
20:23And it may not come immediately.
20:25You'll probably have to experiment a bit.
20:28You just need to try different options.
20:30You must learn and act until the path becomes clear.
20:33Because your goal has created a framework that allows you to notice new opportunities.
20:36And your standards cut off everything that doesn't serve that purpose, freeing up space for your attention to be directed in the right direction.
20:44So, now you have to accept the fact that there are only a few realistic ways to achieve your goal.
20:48But you won't find a path, a person, or an opportunity ready-made For example, in fitness, an " illusionary goal"—again, an impossible result plus an impossible to prepare for a bodybuilding competition in 6 months or to squat 185 kg for the但你不会找到现成的路径、现成的人或现成的机会。
21:01first time this year.
21:03Seriously, when was the last time you set a goal like that and actually went for it?
21:08Because those who have set similar goals know: looking back, you remember exactly that period of your life.
21:14You don't remember anything anymore .
21:16You don't remember the things you do every day, the things you supposedly like to do, like play video games or eat an entire pizza by yourself.
21:23You just don't remember it because this is your normal life.
21:26And by the way, it's just how much of a norm this is .
21:29When I go on Instagram, I see this whole " Apocalypse Day" thing, like "Dune: Part 3" and " Avengers: Judgment Day" are coming out at the same time, so people have a schedule:我上 Instagram 时,看到整个“末日狂欢日”的说法,比如《沙丘 3》和《复仇者联盟:审判日》同时上映,于是人们有了日程:
21:40"Okay, at 10 in the morning we watch Dune 3, and then we go to McDonald's or Burger King."“好,早上 10 点我们看《沙丘 3》,然后去麦当劳或者汉堡王。”
21:44"And at 7 p.m. we go to the Avengers, and then we play GTA 6 all night."“晚上 7 点我们去看复仇者,然后通宵打 GTA 6。”
21:49I understand everything.
21:50I'll watch these movies myself, but the fact that it goes viral every time is the dumbest and most boring life imaginable.
21:57And like I said, I'm going to watch these movies.
22:00I won't play GTA 6 because I simply don't have a console.GTA 6
22:03But I'm not even interested in playing it anymore.
22:05This really interest me.
22:07And I'm not saying this because I'm better than others, I'm just not interested .
22:11But if this is your lifestyle every single day, then something is very, very wrong .
22:16A friend of mine is into crypto, and at first I didn't believe him, but he convinced me that developing Eden was the wrong path because, they say, the future boils down to only three things:我有个朋友玩加密,一开始我不信他,但他说服了我:开发 Eden 是错的路,因为据说未来只剩三样东西:
22:29gambling, porn, and video games.
22:32That's all.
22:33And now I see it everywhere.
22:34That's all.
22:35That's where the future is heading.
22:37This doesn't mean I'll stop building Eden, because I believe that people still have a tiny bit of the to create, but that's just absurd.
22:43This is absurd.
22:44Well, let 's get back to the video.
22:46So, when you set a goal to perform at a bodybuilding show in 6 months or to squat 180 kg , you have to monitor what happens to your attention.
22:52Suddenly, the linear approach of " come, pick up, repeat" stops working.
22:56You need structure.
22:58You may need a coach to quickly point you on the right path.
23:01Your training program should focus solely on the sets, reps, and exercises that will get you to your goal .
23:06You begin to perceive sleep and nutrition as something strict and non- negotiable.
23:09All those things you didn't even think about before because your previous goal filtered them out as noise.
23:14That's when I wanted to earn my first 100 thousand a month in business—and it was an illusory goal for someone who was earning a little less than 100 thousand as a freelancer —I only had about 1,000 followers on social media.
23:25So you would say that this is probably impossible.
23:28So, content or trying to be on social media wouldn't get me to my goal in the short term.
23:33It was obvious that I wouldn't succeed by posting and hoping the algorithm would notice me.
23:38So I had to look for leverage.
23:40I needed to find force multipliers .
23:42First, I needed an offer that would convert, that's part of the point, but I also needed a much larger reach than my 1,000 followers.
23:49I could have gone the paid advertising route, but I didn't have enough money to invest, and I just didn't know how to do it.
23:56So instead, people's audiences became a viable path: I had to network and value with those with 20, 50, or 100k followers to get them to share my content and drive traffic to my offering.
24:11We discuss many ways to do this in the Creator Bootcamp, which is part of Eden's annual Pro plan, link in the description.
24:19But many people miss this point because they follow general advice, having general goals.
24:24If you don't know what Eden is, it's a "second brain" for creators, where you can store any ideas from the internet, research what's already working, create content that's impossible to ignore , and soon— get paid for your knowledge.
24:38So, this will be the construction of a " second brain" and its monetization, because everyone says that info products are dead , although I don't think so.
24:46I just think they haven't adapted to the AI era yet, and that's what we're building now.
24:51Launching your first product will be hassle-free because if you have any useful AI skills, I will make it possible for you to monetize them.
24:59Not just sharing a prompt or skill, but actually getting paid for it.
25:03I see this as the next wave of info products.
25:06They will be much better and more useful for your customers.
25:10So if you want to see it, at least sign up for a free account, writing, saving ideas, and taking notes.
25:17Then you will receive an email when the update is released.
25:21Now, after everything we've discussed, when your focus becomes single-minded, you than 99% of people, and you love it.
25:29It is one of the best things you can experience on this planet.
25:32And if you don't feel this joy, then that's a different problem.
25:35So in the next video, we'll talk about how to add weight to your goals and why discipline isn't something you can just force.
25:42So , if you want to see this video, the link in the description, give it a like while you're here, and I'll see you in the next episode.
25:49See you later.

00:00I want you to tell me if any of this sounds like you. First, you feel like you've been lied to about what the life looks like. You're pursuing a goal that sounds good when you mention it over dinner with your grandma, or a goal that wo n't make your parents think you're a disappointment, and you really don't see where it's leading. If you ignore this feeling, then in 10 years you will wake up with a degree, a decent job, and an endless feeling of despair that you will never be able to fulfill your own dreams. Second, you are productive but not really moving towards anything. You wake up early, listen to podcasts, journal, exercise your calendar is full, but you don't really know where you're going.

00:35Give yourself 5 years and you'll still be figuring out what to do with your life. Third, you are ambitious but keep quiet because it seems awkward to your friends and family. You want a unique life. You don't want to be like everyone else. But when people ask about your future, you downplay your plans so no one laughs. You are trapped in self-deception. You special because of your desire to be unique, but you still do the same thing as everyone else. No one wants to be in any of these three situations. This video will change that for you, because one of my favorite things to do—it might seem like a pointless activity, but I love studying the habits, actions, and mindsets of both successful and mediocre people.

01:17And success is just doing less of what people do and more of what successful people do. And the next few videos on this channel will be dedicated to exactly that. This is just the first of them. So, when we analyze the habits, actions, and thoughts of people who have done the impossible, like Elon Musk or Steve Jobs, and any other great creators, thinkers, and builders of the past, I have noticed one pattern. Their goals are delusional. This is the key to their success. And that's exactly what we're going to figure out . First, why mediocre goals lead to mediocrity and failure, the psychology of delusional goals and why they work and why you need them, how to enter the same reality as extremely successful people, and of course,

02:03how to achieve what most people think is impossible. So, that's where we'll start: why unrealistic goals lead to failure and mediocrity, and you've fallen into that category by default. Everyone falls into this category by default. And, in my opinion, this is best illustrated by a quote from Elon Musk: " mistake a smart engineer makes is optimizing something that shouldn't exist." So, you have goals, even if you haven't set them. This is how our mind works. And if you realize this or understand how your mind works, you will quickly see why you or other people cannot their goals. And we're not talking about some New Year's resolutions or superficial goals that you set because you looked in the mirror and felt insecure, so you wanted to go to the gym or start eating healthy ;

02:47You eat one healthy lunch and immediately throw it away because you simply forgot about it. Something more important has distracted you , such as something funny on your phone. In other words, because another subconscious goal was more important than the one you set, and you just didn't notice it. And this subconscious goal is usually convenience and comfort. This is exactly what you want. Or you just don't want to draw attention to yourself . So you eating healthy or going to the gym because secretly, without even admitting it to yourself, you don't want to stand out. So, we are not talking about such goals. We're talking about your mind being like a heat-seeking missile.

03:23Your every thought and every action is aimed at achieving a specific goal. That's logical, is n't it? I'm looking into this camera because my goal is to create a video. Maybe I'm tapping my foot because my goal is simply not to be bored. This applies to every little thing. Everything is directed towards a goal or towards incentives, which we will talk about soon. But you must understand that your mind is optimizing for a goal that you probably never chose and don't even know exists. Or someone else has given you a goal: to graduate from school, find a job, retire at 65, because that's how you were raised. This is what you were taught and you never questioned it.

04:01So these attitudes sit in your subconscious and silently guide your every step until you realize it. So I want you to actually stop for a second and think about it, because this is really important. This could mean that the entire direction of your life and where you end up is completely out of your control, or at least out of your awareness. Your every thought or action is aimed at achieving a goal. Don't forget about it. So, everything happens like this. First you are born. Your first goal is survival. And your parents have been thinking about what goals they want you to achieve for quite some time. They want what's best for you, as they say, but in reality they want what's best for themselves.

04:39They want you to become a decent young man who won't embarrass them. Then your parents teach you to walk, to communicate, and eventually—what they see as your success, which usually coincides with the goals society has imposed on them, unless your parents question them or are too proactive. So, go to school, get a job, pray to God . And you do. You go to school, then college, because it's just the next step. You don't actually make this decision. This is the only decision you can make. Then you get a job, achieve goals, and check off the list. And after a quarter of your life, you to wonder if you really wanted it, which, by the way, is not very pleasant.

05:19A quarter of your life has passed. So, the typical state is to have average goals and just go with the flow. If you understand entropy, you know how catastrophic it can be. Entropy shows that systems are heading towards disorder. Applied to the mind, mental here isn't some fancy word, like you move objects with the power of thought, it literally means "mental." This is the mind. So, mental entropy means that your mind, and therefore your life, is drifting towards chaos and disorder. This can be seen everywhere. It's just what happens. If you don't water a plant, it dies. If you don't clean your room, it will gradually become dirtier over time.

05:59If you don't maintain habits of self-development, your mind slowly descends into chaos. Here's what happens on a typical path: you have mediocre goals that you didn't choose or set, you don't put effort into them because they don't excite you, and you end up in a rut. Everyone feels it. That's why this video will always be relevant. This should not be the case. You should want better for yourself. But that's also the nature of reality, and I think it exists for a reason . Because at a certain point, the system becomes unstable, and a new, more structure must emerge. So when you imagine water pouring from a faucet, say, into a bathtub, eventually it becomes so chaotic that a vortex begins to form, a ordered vortex.

06:44It's the same in life: you reach a point where the lower part of you wants to stay the same , and the higher part wants something more. And you feel like you're being torn in half. This is a signal to completely change your life. That's what newsletter will be about: how to get out of a really bad situation, because this is the best time to start. So, the reason why most mediocre and unrealistic goals lead to failure is how you choose them. First, you look at what you think is possible, or what you know is possible, and what you know now was told to you by your parents, teachers, or other ordinary people. And then, from those possible goals, you lower the bar a little so that people don't laugh at you for wanting to , because when you try to be better, the in a bucket" mentality kicks in,

07:35and all your friends say, "Oh, you better have a beer with us ." "You shouldn't stick to your health goals." Like: "That's enough for you, relax, live life to the fullest." And you want to avoid this because you know it will happen, so you lower the bar and take the goals seriously from the very beginning. A goal only seems realistic when it fits into the life your parents, teachers, and friends already expect of you. In other words, your mind is a cage, and if you continue to choose to live in that cage, you will never see the opportunities that could change everything . That's what this video is largely about— observation.

08:08And if you don't notice this opportunity, you won't be able to take advantage of it. And again , your life slowly gets worse and worse until the pain becomes so unbearable that you either break down or finally decide to act. So, what are “illusionary” goals ? Why are they important? Are they really delusional? We'll start with a quote from Maxwell Maltz to transition. A person who considers themselves a failure will find a way to fail, despite all their good intentions or willpower, even if the opportunity literally falls into their hands. A person who considers himself a victim of injustice, someone doomed to suffer, will invariably find circumstances to confirm his beliefs.

08:45Now, another thing I like to think about is why humans are unique or how they are different from animals. And humans are unique not in the sense that they have memory, a different type of consciousness than animals, or a more sophisticated intelligence, although that also plays a role. They are unique because they constantly model the future to guide the present. You think about the future more than the past because you usually don't think about the past so much as how it affects the future and what you're trying to avoid based on past experiences. And it is the future that determines your current behavior. Again , all behavior is So, contrary to what is probably belief, your actions do not create the future.

09:28create the future first, and your actions follow suit . So, all of this falls under the concept of selective attention. This means that your brain is either responding to stimuli or is directed toward a goal. And when you focus on one thing, that means that by definition you are not focused on 99.99% of the other things you could be focusing on. Your attention is focused on the goal, not flailing around like a rag doll looking for another dopamine rush . This is an important part because audacious, " illusionary" goals force you to do this. If you are focused on one overarching illusory goal and only focus on it, then everything else is just noise.

10:02So I want you to imagine two different people with radically different goals. The first person, Tommy, has the same goal as almost everyone else. Go to school, get an education, get a decent job to finally afford a nice apartment and acquire status symbols to find a partner. The second person, Johnny, has a goal that seems impossible. Building a content business that brings in 100 thousand per month in 6 months, as an example that I think many of my audience can identify with. So , will Tommy ever have the opportunity to earn more than what a decent job pays him? Will Tommy ever learn something outside of school that will allow him to take advantage of a more lucrative opportunity?

10:39No, because that's not what his attention is set on . He may come across life-changing information, but his mind will consider it noise simply because it is not needed to achieve the goal he is pursuing. Johnny, on the other hand, cannot think like person. To achieve this illusory goal, he realizes that most of the actions he takes are completely useless. So, a correctly set “illusionary” goal pushes your brain into the unknown. Everything you knew before no longer matters. You can't use this. And this strengthens connections in the brain, but novelty and challenge stimulate learning and change much faster. So, switching and giving your full attention to the goal forces your brain into a where it has to quickly recalibrate, and the new behavior becomes your new normal.

11:27And what's even better—many have experienced this in brief moments of their lives—is the moment when the five internal drivers of flow and obsession come into play, creating an incredible quality of life. I mean the state of the stream. This is the highest human experience. These five drivers are: first, curiosity—the desire the unknown, learn to change, and gaps in knowledge. This causes a release of helpful dopamine through novelty and norepinephrine, which increases attention, preparing you for learning. The second is passion. There is a strong enthusiasm for the path that allows you to change your life. This leads to even beneficial dopamine and norepinephrine.

12:04Next—purpose, which is the feeling that your actions contribute to something greater than yourself. Achieving goals leads to a release of dopamine and reinforces behavior. Serotonin is produced by meaning and a sense of Oxytocin is produced through connections with others. The next one is autonomy, that is, the desire to manage one's own life and to control one's choices, actions, and environment, which again leads to the release of dopamine and a decrease in cortisol—the stress of feeling limited, which allows for creative decisions. when the process of learning and development becomes its own reward. This gives a steady, beneficial dopamine boost that keeps you in the game and makes you want to keep going.

12:39That's what we're trying to do: you throw yourself into the unknown, you become maybe you become curious enough to throw yourself into the unknown—and then you create passion, right? You don't feel passionate about things until you invest your time and energy into them. You can't find your passion because you haven't done anything. You have to stay in the unknown until you feel passionate about something. And so many people get this wrong You don't have to be into anything fancy or artistic. You can become passionate about anything if enough and study it enough to literally become "fanatic" about it. That's when passion begins to manifest.

13:16And then, when you can connect that passion with a sense of purpose and ultimately do your own thing, gaining autonomy and mastery, that's the best way to live. This is what I try to convey in my training programs. It sounds great, but I understand your doubts because I was once in your shoes. And this doubt sounds like this: “But, Dan, I’ve tried setting goals like this before and I feel anything like this. I didn't feel motivated. I just set a goal ." And yes, that's exactly what we're trying to avoid. Your goal must have gravity. She should attract you to her. It should be so powerful that everything else in your life seems insignificant and meaningless.

13:51And it's not easy. Therefore, this will be a series of videos, not just one video. So, for now, we need to learn how to set “ delusional” goals correctly. In fact, we don't just set a goal. We are creating a new reality. It sounds a bit esoteric. It sounds strange, but that's exactly what you're doing. We strive to enter the same reality in extremely successful people live. I Anthony de Mello's quote: " Every great idea is initially perceived as blasphemy." Everyone will think you're crazy because the idea scares them. I think the best example of this is Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs would walk into a room and announce an impossible deadline or an product as if it had already been decided.

14:32He said, "We'll release this by January , and it'll do this." With such confidence that the engineers in the room who knew it was impossible came out with the belief that it was possible and worked as if it was a normal plan. This Jobs' "reality distortion field." Most would call it charisma, manipulation, or bad character, when in reality he was attention of everyone present. Steve Jobs external factors that said "it's impossible" and replaced them with a future goal. Everyone in the room's brain began to look for ways to achieve the goal, instead of looking for reasons why it wouldn't work. The thing is, people misunderstand what a goal is.

15:09A goal is not a you have to reach. It's not just climbing a mountain and reaching the top. The goal is a vantage point , because when you're at the top, you see everything below in a completely different way. In the end, it's not so important that you reach the top. It's like you're going home and going to bed just like you do every night. It's just not that important , but what you've gained is an advantage in choosing a position. You have gained a new perspective. So, a goal is a filter that decides what your brain considers important and what is meaningless or I hope this is clear, because realizing this is extremely powerful.

15:44It's that you're not really trying to achieve the goal itself. This is the type of self-development dogma that many people are fed, and then they become disappointed in their goals and say that setting them is pointless, and that all you need is systems. When a goal is not meant to be achieved, it becomes a point of view. This is what filters information. This is what allows you to notice opportunities because your attention and focus are directed in a different direction from a different level. In other words, you are in a different reality. You see things that other people don't see. So, to this “crazy” goal correctly and create your own reality distortion field, here’s what you need to do.

16:20And now would be a good time to get out a notepad or open Eden to take notes. But the first step is to establish a point of view. And there are exactly two things that are needed to set a " crazy" goal. First, the goal should be so big that you think it is impossible. And second, you need to set a deadline so short that you also consider it impossible. So , an impossible goal and an impossible deadline for achieving it, because impossibility is relative to your current situation. It is actually possible, but if it were possible for you, you would not be operating in the dark. You wouldn't be doing anything new. If you don't know what goal to set or even what to do with your life, I find it helpful to start with problem, solving which will open up other areas of your life.

17:02It's like your top priority. For most people, this usually involves fitness or finances, as hitting the gym and losing 10kg can do wonders for your energy and mental health, making the process of life change easier. This was true for me, and it's true for many I've spoken to: their first step into business was fitness. I've been in the gym since I was about 14 or 15 years old. I had a small garage gym that only consisted of a bench press and a bench press chair. But I went there because I just wanted the on my arms to show. It didn't matter how I started, because I learned a lot, eventually came to love the process, and it taught me habits and behaviors that transfer so well business; Of course, energy and confidence also helped a lot.

17:46When it comes to finances, more money relieves stress, opens up the mind, and allows you to invest in other areas of life. And it is not yet necessary to know the specific "how" to achieve these goals. Because by simply setting a goal— if it’s a real goal that you constantly think about, your main guiding star —you allow your mind to eventually determine and learn the “how.” Because you do n't know how to do it because you don't know where to look for answers. Next, you have to ask yourself one question. Is the goal and deadline you just impossible for who you are now? In other words, can your current approach get you there?

18:19If so, then the goal is linear, not Give it up and raise the bar higher. The goal should lie outside your current skills, habits, and ideas of what is possible, because that is what creates a lens that shows you a new reality instead of a to-do list. Finally, the goal must be unique and chosen independently. You cannot have conflicting goals. This scatters attention and does not lead to the formation of one's own point of view at all. And it cannot be inherited from parents, culture, industry, or algorithms. So, the final version of goal setting is when you can say, “I’m doing this.” With complete confidence, and you instantly see that most of what you are doing now has nothing to do with this goal.

18:54And then I can also welcome you into the unknown—that is the most meaningful place to be. The second step is to set standards for what you don't do and stick to them. This should happen automatically if the goal correctly, but if you feel like it's not, then you need to do that too . You need to identify what you simply no longer do. So, you analyze your life: every habit, every project, every client, every relationship, routine, and commitment. Does any of this help you achieve your goal? The answer is almost certainly no, and that's the hardest part, because you have to create a standard that you to lower, and these are things you no longer do, period.

19:30You don't just stop partying on weekends or undercutting your freelance services, you completely eradicate this behavior. And, of course, that's easier said than done. There is a sunk cost bias, like, "Oh, I've invested so much in this, it would be illogical to throw it away now." Either fear or lack of responsibility, and all because the mind is a machine for self-deception. This is what the mind does deceives you and lies to you. And people just love to lie to themselves so as not to change anything. In my opinion, the best way to present this is as a chance to practice brutal honesty with yourself and rip off all the band-aids in one fell swoop.

20:04So, the end result of raising your standards is that life becomes much easier. You just feel less burden on your shoulders. You have fewer things, fewer obligations, and fewer excuses that clutter your head and prevent you from taking action. Now, step three— focus on the available to you. Since you have goals, what do you do next? And it may not come immediately. You'll probably have to experiment a bit. You just need to try different options. You must learn and act until the path becomes clear. Because your goal has created a framework that allows you to notice new opportunities. And your standards cut off everything that doesn't serve that purpose, freeing up space for your attention to be directed in the right direction.

20:44So, now you have to accept the fact that there are only a few realistic ways to achieve your goal. But you won't find a path, a person, or an opportunity ready-made For example, in fitness, an " illusionary goal"—again, an impossible result plus an impossible to prepare for a bodybuilding competition in 6 months or to squat 185 kg for the first time this year. Seriously, when was the last time you set a goal like that and actually went for it? Because those who have set similar goals know: looking back, you remember exactly that period of your life. You don't remember anything anymore . You don't remember the things you do every day, the things you supposedly like to do, like play video games or eat an entire pizza by yourself.

21:23You just don't remember it because this is your normal life. And by the way, it's just how much of a norm this is . When I go on Instagram, I see this whole " Apocalypse Day" thing, like "Dune: Part 3" and " Avengers: Judgment Day" are coming out at the same time, so people have a schedule: "Okay, at 10 in the morning we watch Dune 3, and then we go to McDonald's or Burger King." "And at 7 p.m. we go to the Avengers, and then we play GTA 6 all night." I understand everything. I'll watch these movies myself, but the fact that it goes viral every time is the dumbest and most boring life imaginable. And like I said, I'm going to watch these movies.

22:00I won't play GTA 6 because I simply don't have a console. But I'm not even interested in playing it anymore. This really interest me. And I'm not saying this because I'm better than others, I'm just not interested . But if this is your lifestyle every single day, then something is very, very wrong . A friend of mine is into crypto, and at first I didn't believe him, but he convinced me that developing Eden was the wrong path because, they say, the future boils down to only three things: gambling, porn, and video games. That's all. And now I see it everywhere. That's all. That's where the future is heading. This doesn't mean I'll stop building Eden, because I believe that people still have a tiny bit of the to create, but that's just absurd.

22:43This is absurd. Well, let 's get back to the video. So, when you set a goal to perform at a bodybuilding show in 6 months or to squat 180 kg , you have to monitor what happens to your attention. Suddenly, the linear approach of " come, pick up, repeat" stops working. You need structure. You may need a coach to quickly point you on the right path. Your training program should focus solely on the sets, reps, and exercises that will get you to your goal . You begin to perceive sleep and nutrition as something strict and non- negotiable. All those things you didn't even think about before because your previous goal filtered them out as noise.

23:14That's when I wanted to earn my first 100 thousand a month in business—and it was an illusory goal for someone who was earning a little less than 100 thousand as a freelancer —I only had about 1,000 followers on social media. So you would say that this is probably impossible. So, content or trying to be on social media wouldn't get me to my goal in the short term. It was obvious that I wouldn't succeed by posting and hoping the algorithm would notice me. So I had to look for leverage. I needed to find force multipliers . First, I needed an offer that would convert, that's part of the point, but I also needed a much larger reach than my 1,000 followers.

23:49I could have gone the paid advertising route, but I didn't have enough money to invest, and I just didn't know how to do it. So instead, people's audiences became a viable path: I had to network and value with those with 20, 50, or 100k followers to get them to share my content and drive traffic to my offering. We discuss many ways to do this in the Creator Bootcamp, which is part of Eden's annual Pro plan, link in the description. But many people miss this point because they follow general advice, having general goals. If you don't know what Eden is, it's a "second brain" for creators, where you can store any ideas from the internet, research what's already working, create content that's impossible to ignore , and soon— get paid for your knowledge.

24:38So, this will be the construction of a " second brain" and its monetization, because everyone says that info products are dead , although I don't think so. I just think they haven't adapted to the AI era yet, and that's what we're building now. Launching your first product will be hassle-free because if you have any useful AI skills, I will make it possible for you to monetize them. Not just sharing a prompt or skill, but actually getting paid for it. I see this as the next wave of info products. They will be much better and more useful for your customers. So if you want to see it, at least sign up for a free account, writing, saving ideas, and taking notes.

25:17Then you will receive an email when the update is released. Now, after everything we've discussed, when your focus becomes single-minded, you than 99% of people, and you love it. It is one of the best things you can experience on this planet. And if you don't feel this joy, then that's a different problem. So in the next video, we'll talk about how to add weight to your goals and why discipline isn't something you can just force. So , if you want to see this video, the link in the description, give it a like while you're here, and I'll see you in the next episode. See you later.

02:03如何实现大多数人认为不可能的事。那就从这里开始:为什么不现实的目标会导致失败和平庸——而你默认就已经落入这一类。每个人默认都会落入这一类。在我看来,Elon Musk 的一句话最能说明这一点:“一个聪明的工程师最容易犯的错误,是去优化一个本就不该存在的东西。”所以,你是有目标的——哪怕你从没设定过。我们的心智就是这样运作的。如果你意识到这一点,或者理解了你的心智如何运作,你很快就会明白,为什么你或别人无法实现自己的目标。我们说的不是新年决心,也不是那种因为照镜子觉得不自信、于是想去健身或开始吃得健康的表面目标;
